Get to know the archaeological zone of Balamkú, through the Calakmul and Balamkú Tour. In the mentioned site of Balamku, immersed in the jungle, you will be able to appreciate a frieze made with stucco between the years 550 and 650 of the current era and in which important events of the Mayan culture are perceived.

During this tour we will visit 3 archaeological sites: Xpujil, Becán and Chicanná, and also some communities where you will learn about the local sustainable initiatives that are looking for economical alternatives to offer a responsible use of the natural resources.

Hormiguero was reported by Karl Ruppert and John Dennison during his second expedition to Campeche, sent by the Carnegie Institution of Washington, in April 1933. However, it was not until 1979 that the first conservation and excavation work in the area was undertaken. Today we know that the period of greatest occupation of the site has been recorded, according to archaeological evidence, between 600 and 800 AD, within the period known as the Late Classic.
